( Out of the Closet
) first opened its doors in 1991 at a
time when Vintage Clothing was not common
place . Our first store opened on Brunswick
St - Fitzroy, in the heart of Melbournes
arts community. We quickly establshed
ourselves as a shop offering unique one
off pieces, and tailor made clothing.
The shop grew in reputation and very quickly
the need for a second , larger store became
obvious. This lead to the opening of the
Flinders St Store in 1998 .
The
demand for fresh, and original vintage
pieces grew, so we went offshore to source
the finest pieces available from Europe
and America and have also managed to keep
our prices affordable and well within
the budgets of most shoppers.

Over the years our range has encompassed
everything for Original 70's ABBA label
flares, and Victorian dresses, to WWII
Bomber jackets and Austrian feild coats.
We
carry winter and summer clothing all year
round. Something that has proven useful
for people heading overseas and looking
for winter coats in the middle of a Melbourne
summer.
